Transmark Chile SpA holds the license for geothermal exploitation in the area where the Tolhuaca geothermal field is located on the border of La Araucanía and Biobío Regions, southern Chile. The area is widely studied since the early 2000’s. Previous exploration wells proved the existence of a geothermal reservoir and showed a production potential of 9 - 12 MWe from a single well! Transmark Chile SpA intends to develop a geothermal power plant at the Tolhuaca field to produce sustainable base load power for many generations.

Transmark Chile SpA posee una concesión de explotación geotérmica en el área donde el Campo Geotermal Tolhuaca se ubica, en el borde de las regiones de La Araucanía y el Bío-Bío, en el sur de Chile. Esta área ha sido ampliamente estudiada desde principios de los 2000. El potencial del sistema geotermal ha sido comprobado por pozos de exploración anteriores, los cuales mostraron un potencial de producción de 9 – 12 MWe en un solo pozo. Transmark Chile SpA tiene la intención de desarrollar una planta geotermal en el campo Tolhuaca para producir energía de base sustentable por muchas generaciones.

Additional exploration of the north-west area within the Peumayén Concession - Buena Vista Surface Studies Program

Transmark Chile SpA also holds the license for geothermal exploration in the area directly surrounding the Tolhuaca geothermal field. Currently, early stage surface studies are initiated to explore for geothermal resources in the Adobera valley to the north-west of the Tolhuaca geothermal field. If the right conditions are found to be present, this might lead to development of a geothermal power plant in the Adobera valley.

The project is co-financed by the Federal Republic of Germany through KfW and with funding by the European Union, through the Geothermal Development Facility for Latin America.

Transmark Chile SpA también posee la concesión de exploración geotermal en el área alrededor del Campo Geotermal Tolhuaca. Actualmente se han iniciado labores de estudios superficiales para exploración de un recurso geotermal en el Valle de Adobera, al noroeste del Campo Geotermal Tolhuaca. Si las condiciones son favorables, esto podría conducir al desarrollo de una planta de energía geotérmica en el Valle de Adobera.

Este proyecto se encuentra cofinanciado por la República Federal de Alemania mediante el KfW y con fondos de la Unión Europea, mediante el programa GDF: Geothermal Development Facility for Latin America.
